To whom it may concern.

My name is Josie McDonald. I am a new tenant in XXX Apartments in Anaheim, CA. My husband and I recently moved into XXX Apartments and this has become the most frustrating move I have ever encountered.

My husband and I decided to submit the application on April 5th , 2006 and were approved the same day. Rene oooo was informed that we planned to sign the lease on April 14th, 2006 and physically move in on the 22nd. When we signed the lease on the 14th, Rene told us that the new stove-top microwave would be delivered on 17th and that it would be installed by our move in date of the 22nd. The microwave was installed on 29th that is 1 week after we moved in.

We expected the apartment to be in a move-in ready condition. However, when we started to unpack our dishes, the dishwasher was not hooked up. After complaining to the leasing office several times, they finally fixed it. When the dishwasher was turned on, we discovered the hose connections to the dishwasher were leaking. I had to leave a cloth there to catch the leaking water so I could continue to unpacking. Also maintenance informed us that he would need to have the electrician re-wire the circuit so the dishwasher and garbage disposal wouldn’t share the same switch. He said he would have the electrician here when the microwave would be delivered. This was fixed on the 29th as well. But we discovered the dishwasher was hooked up incorrectly. It was connected to cold water. No matter how many times we wash them, our dishes were still covered with grease.

Besides the unfortunate events above, we also found out that our mailbox was missing a lock. It was quickly replaced with a new lock. But the old maintenance guy forgot to give us a key before he quit. We had to have another maintenance guy to knock it off and put on a new lock. During this time we did not receive our mail for several days because the post office would not deliver items to a mailbox without a lock.

Moving is very stressful and the way our leasing office handled the situation has even made it worse. All these things should be taken care of before we moved in. I understand the management may be short staffed. But they had two weeks to complete these simple maintenance items before we moved in, sadly, they chose to do nothing. The management is extremely disorganized and shows absolutely no consideration for tenants. All repair requests were written on a piece of sticky note instead of an official work orders. On top of that, the new girl, Lana, has not been very helpful at all. Last time I asked her if she could page the maintenance guy to open the mailbox for me, she refused it. It was 5 minute after 6 o’clock. She told me “to walk around the property and look for the maintenance guy myself”.

I don’t understand how we can pay $1150 a month to live here and not receive the service we deserve. It also makes me wonder how fast this management will respond if something major breaks. When you charge this amount of rent, we expect decent service and good facilities. The leasing office lacks efficiency and the apartment mailboxes are outdated mail can barely fit. I would say this is the worst property management I ever experienced. My husband and I both regret signing the 1-year lease. We are very frustrated and angry about how we have been treated. Please follow up with your management team at XXX. The prompt response from you would be greatly appreciated.
